To prepare for this coming Sunday’s (October 21) class about baptism, read the following Scripture passages: Matthew 3:13-17 Matthew 28:16-20 John 4:1-3 Acts 2:38-39 Romans 6:1-4 Galatians 3:27-29
Then, if you have made the choice for baptism, think back to that event, and to the desires, decisions and discernment that went into preparing for it. Why did you take that step? And, if you could send your pre-baptismal self a message, from the perspective of your understanding of discipleship today, what would you tell yourself?
Anabaptism has historically spoken of three baptisms, which are listed in 1 John 5:7-8. What are they? When have you observed or experienced any of these three?
